Founded in 1973, Produzentengalerie Hamburg has been one of the leading galleries for contemporary art in Germany since the 1980s. It is well-known for having constantly pursued an innovative, cutting-edge exhibition programme and for discovering new aesthetic positions.
The gallery represents internationally renowned artists such as Thomas Scheibitz, Thomas Schütte, Andreas Slominski, and Astrid Klein all of whom have had their works exhibited in various art institutions and are collected by some of the world’s most reputable international museums. In addition to those established positions the gallery ofers a platform for new talents in contemporary German art. The younger artists include Ulla von Brandenburg, Beate Gütschow, Tjorg Douglas Beer and Volker Hüller. From this year on the gallery has a new partner, Gideon Modersohn (born in 1982), who does not only lower the average age of the gallery partners but will also be jointly responsible of the constant rejuvenation process of the gallery artists. Produzentengalerie Hamburg organizes five solo or group exhibitions annually and participates in the major international art shows.
